The Annapolis Royal Volunteer Fire Department's history can be traced back to 1811, confirmed by evidence of the production of regulations of the Annapolis Royal Fire Engine Company, dated 1811 and adopted in 1812.
Since that time the department has evolved from the dark ages to the modern day fire department.
The present day Annapolis Royal Volunteer Fire Department has branched out in several areas of operations including: Structural firefighting, fire prevention, water rescue, motor vehicle accidents and medical first responders to name a few.
This is all accomplished by a volunteer membership of approximately 40 members.
The Annapolis Royal Volunteer Fire Department responds to approximately 100 emergency calls per year and is on call 24/7 365 days per year.
Weather is no object, the department will respond where life safety and property involved.
