Description & Services

Information Be moved by the world’s highest tides.

This is one of the most convenient and accessible places to experience the incredible tidal phenomena of Canada’s Bay of Fundy – home to the highest tides on Earth! This park overlooks the Salmon River at the head of the Bay of Fundy where a tidal bore occurs twice daily at predicted times, on the incoming tide, offering a natural demonstration of the extremity of Fundy’s renowned tides.

Talk to friendly staff at the Visitor Centre (tentatively open June to October) to get tidal bore and tide times along with information on area attractions and things to do. Stop for a washroom break and stretch your legs on the dyke trail beside the river. Enjoy a picnic and the panoramic view. Have fun with the kids at the natural playground inspired by the Bay. Stretch your legs by walking or cycling the nearby Cobequid Trail. Finish your day with a tranquil view and extraordinary sunset

Tidal bore times and an explanation of this unique natural phenomenon and other fun facts about the Bay of Fundy are available on fundydiscovery.ca or information panels at the park.

Welcome cyclists! Fundy Discovery Site is Bike Friendly Certified. We have bicycle racks, repair stand, water station (May to October), washrooms, and maps and information about the local area.

Conveniently located off Highway 102 at exit 14 and just minutes from downtown Truro.

The Fundy Discovery Site aspires to celebrate the phenomenal Bay and the powerful forces that have shaped this diverse tidal and cultural landscape. The site is owned and operated by the Municipality of Colchester and is part of the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark. We have made several enhancements to the site and many more are planned as we envision the site to be a central anchor and orientation site for visitors to the Bay of Fundy. Fundy Discovery Site will remain a place to gather, learn about and enjoy this special part of the world.
