|Information||This trail is one of the few wilderness trails in Nova Scotia and is intended for experienced hikers only. The trail follows the Economy River gorge, passes by Newton Pond and Newton Lake and includes spur trails to waterfalls on Chain Lake Stream and Murphy Brook. The trail has several stream and river fords, with no bridges, however, there is one large bridge just above the Falls that must be crossed to do the loop.
This trail is an 18 km loop; hikers should allow 8 to 10 hours to complete the hike. The surface is a footpath, with no bridges (other than one bridge immediately upstream of Economy Falls). Hikers are to follow the orange trail markers.
The trail has a "challenging" difficulty rating.
Camping is designated to sites at Chain Lake Stream, Murphy Brook, and Newton Lake. Campfires are not permitted for ecological reasons. Registration is only required for back country campers. Registration takes place at the Cobequid Interpretive Centre.
