Information October 2022 - Due to the damage from Hurricane Fiona, Economy Falls Trail is closed until further notice. Please respect trail closure notices and signage. Long visited by geologists and hikers, Economy Falls is the star of the Economy River Wilderness Area and Kenomee Trail System. The majestic rock face is the edge of Avalonia, one of the tectonic jigsaw pieces of the ancient Appalachians. A short trail allows hikers to experience the waterfall, which is one of the largest in Nova Scotia and part of the Cliffs of Fundy Geopark. Length: 1 km linear (one-way) Permitted Use: hiking Trail surface: gravel road, gravel path, dirt path and wooden stairs. Rating: "easy/moderate" difficulty, with very steep wooden stairs at the base of the falls Directions: To access the trail, follow Route 2 to Economy. Turn north onto River Philip Road (unpaved road, very rough sections) and continue following main road and signs for 7 km to upper parking area near Economy Falls. (At about 1 km, at the top of the hill take time to enjoy a panoramic view of the Minas Basin and its tide.) At 7 km, turn right at the sign and continue a short distance to the parking lot. From here, a 10 minute walk takes to you the top of steps to the Economy River (follow these to the bottom of the falls). Explore the top of the falls and bridge across the gorge by turning right at top of stairs. Other hiking trails in the Kenomee Trail System:
