Description & Services

Information The trail is a 1.6 km stacked loop with gravel surface and a wooden bridge. The trail is flat.

Permitted use of the trail is walking; dogs must be on leash. Bicycles are not permitted.

This trail passes through a wetland on the west side of Brookfield. The trail follows berms around constructed ponds and is laid out in a stacked loop (figure 8) with a bridge connecting the loops. Take a few minutes along your walk to look at the interpretive signage - learn about the value and function of wetlands and learn to identify wildlife commonly seen here. The ponds and trail were created in 2009 by Lafarge Canada Inc. and Ducks Unlimited Canada.
This trail, with convenience access, is a great area for bird watchers and photographers.

Directions:
Highway 102, Exit 12 at Brookfield. The trail is just east of Highway 102, and west of the crossroads (Route 2 and Route 289) in Brookfield. The ponds and trail are across from Ed Creelman Park and the former train station.

Parking is available. A bicycle rack is provided on-site.

Open year-round.
