Description & Services
Information Due in part to the Health Promoting Schools Initiative there were three schools interested in developing or expanding their community gardens as part of their vision of having their schools a hub for their community. The Tri County Local Food Network has worked with school personnel to provide seniors and youth the opportunity to work together on many aspects of food production, preparation, and preservation.
The school in Lockeport wanted a greenhouse beside the school knowing the weather there can be challenging for growing a garden. The network was able to assist in a number of ways at all three sites.
Workshops on planting and growing a garden were offered at all three schools. Sessions on food production, preparation and preservation continue.
