Description & Services

Information LaHave River Two - Bridgewater to LaHave (no map)

This tidal section of the LaHave, flowing past historic homes and Miller Point Peace Park, can be paddled year round.

Skill Level: Beginner, Class 1- Flatwater
Time: Half- day
Distance: 11.6 km
Start: Bridgewater or Dayspring
Finish: LaHave Ferry Boat Ramp

This route provides a scenic tour of riverside homes with opportunity to see osprey, muskrats, loons, ducks and seals. Two km past Bridgewater on the left side of the river is Miller’s Point Peace Park, a 7.6 ha (19 acre) municipal park. You can land here and explore along the two km of trail past a salt marsh, beaver dam, old cemetery and foundation.

Paddle into hidden Horseshoe Cove by sticking to the left shore as it curves back into the cove. An interpretive brochure is available at the trail head sign.

A little further on is Synder’s Shipyard and one km past that is the Dayspring Public Boat Ramp. This spot has easier water access than the dock in Bridgewater (E3 above).
Try to time your trip with the outgoing tide so you aren’t paddling against it.

The wind can also be quite strong but is usually blowing down the river. Take out at the LaHave Ferry Ramp in the community of LaHave or East LaHave across the river.

Parking is available on both sides.

Check out the popular bakery in LaHave just a short walk from the take out for some treats to recharge your energy.
