Description & Services
Lunenburg Yacht Club has easy access to some of the best cruising waters in North America, which include a myriad of beautiful islands, many with beautiful beaches. LYC operates a variety of family-oriented and water-based facilities for everyone from yacht racers to land-based gourmets.
LYC has a strong keelboat racing program, and our racers perform extremely well when traveling to other clubs for competition. We also have had many very successful dinghy sailors at the club, including Olympian Lisa Ross and World Youth Sailors Daniel Baker and Adam Taylor to name a few. LYC has also hosted many successful national and international regattas, including the World Youth Sailing Championship, Optimist Canadian Championships, and will be hosting the upcoming 2014 Sonar North American Championships.
LYC's Learn-to-Sail program has some of the best facilities in Nova Scotia, and even more space following our recent acquisition of a next-door property. The program offers sailing lessons for ages 6 and up throughout the summer.
LYC has one of the best junior sailing programs in the Maritimes.
LYC also offers adult learn-to-sail lessons, and private lessons, which are usually taught aboard our J/24 keelboat.
LYC is launching a sailing membership program "Sail Able" for all individuals from the South Shore who have a disability or special needs and would like to start or restart sailing.
Instructional programs, racing, cruising, fuel, social events, restaurant and bar services are all available.
