Over 100 Years of Dedicated Service to the Annapolis Valley!

Recruiting:

Are you looking for excitement? Do you want to be part of a close knit, dynamic and fun loving team? We are always looking for new members!

Here’s the scoop on how to join our team:

Step 1: Stop by the fire hall on any Wednesday night at 7:00pm and have a look at our hall and equipment. Wednesday’s are our training nights, so there will be plenty of members around to talk to about what it is like to be a part of this rewarding team. Pick up an application from any of the LVFD members.

Step 2: Print and fill out the application and request a police background check through your local RCMP detachment. Due to the type of work we do, we require all members to have a police background check completed. Return the completed application and background check to the fire hall. Click here for the Application Form.

Step 3: At the next monthly meeting of LVFD, which is the last Wednesday of each month, we will read your application to the members present at the meeting. You will then be invited to attend one month of training as an observer. This will give you a feel for what it takes to be a firefighter, and will give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Step 4: At the next monthly meeting following your observation period, we will read your application a second time. We will then vote to have you join the department on a six month probation. You will be issued firefighter turn-out gear and a pager. During this time, you will attend training and respond to any emergency calls.

Step 5: After your six month probation, we will vote to continue your probation and issue you a key to the fire hall.

Step 6: After a total of 12 months, you will be voted in as a full member of LVFD. Congratulations, you are a firefighter with LVFD!
