Description & Services

Information Vision Statement
Newcombville Elementary is a school which promotes life-long learning by respecting individuals and nurturing their intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth in a safe and healthy learning environment.

Philosophy
A discipline policy begins by creating a positive environment where good will and harmony are the norms, where there is tolerance for others, and where there is potential for student progress through consistent recognition of positive behaviour.

Embedded in Newcombville Elementary School’s Discipline Policy are philosophies that reflect both the PEBS (Positive Effective Behaviour Supports) and PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) philosophies. PEBS schools are those schools that promote a school-wide system model of behaviour supports that includes strategies for teaching supporting appropriate behaviours to create a positive school climate. The PATHS curriculum (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) “provides a comprehensive program for promoting emotional and social competencies and reducing aggression and behaviour problems in preschool and elementary school-aged children, while simultaneously enhancing the educational process in the classroom”.

In developing a POSITIVE SCHOOL CLIMATE, the positive approach to discipline takes into consideration the beauty of each student, provides an opportunity for each student to take an active part in his or her academic planning, and does not involve elaborate techniques. It allows for an exercise of the unique skills and competencies of each teacher.

Eligibility Grades Primary to Grade 5
