Description & Services

Information

We are a small community choir on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. We love to sing gospel, folk and local maritime songs, as well as pop, country and other styles. Mostly we just love to sing together - come and sing with us!

The Riverport and Area Community Choir performs year round at various festivals and events in and around Riverport. Past appearances include The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival in Lunenburg and Festivals in Mahone Bay. The Choir has over 100 members from age 8 to 80 and beyond, and performs a charming mix of folk, traditional and local songs, as well as throwing in the occasional skit and comedy sketch. Choir members are proud to say that the only requirement for membership is that you must have "driven through Riverport at least twice".

The Riverport and Area Community Choir was founded by the late Ken Matheson as a collection of sketches and songs, and under Mr. Matheson's' direction grew into the present lively and entertaining community choir.

To date we have recorded 3 CDs. The most recent CD, "Still The Song Lives On", is available for $12. At least $5 from every CD sale will be donated to the Lunenburg Interchurch Food Bank.

Note: We may still have CD's from earlier recordings.
Meetings We met every Tuesday night 7 pm at the Trinity United Church for practice.
