Description & Services

Information The Bay to Bay Trail Association is a not for profit, volunteer organization that holds the LOA (Letter of Authority) to maintain and operate a recreational trail on the crown land right of way between Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. This 10 km trail "the Lunenburg Spur Line" plus the 1 km segment from Sawpit Road to Battery Point Road sits on the abandoned rail line.

The Bay to Bay Trail Association operates exclusively with a volunteer board of directors who meet monthly to fulfil the duties required to secure funding, coordinate necessary repairs and annual maintenance of the trail, promoting a safe and enjoyable recreational space for the residents and visitors of Lunenburg County and surrounding areas.

The Bay to Bay Trail is a wonderful resource enjoyed by hikers, cyclists, skiers, snowmobiles, OHVs and horses. We encourage the public to come out and experience our trail. Hi-lites to be explored include the old granite foundations that supported the rail line (now supporting our wooden trail bridges), abandoned rail ties covered in moss on the surrounding forest floor, granite culverts, the marsh section of the trail a surprise when most of the trail is under a beautiful tree canopy, the art installation not to be missed and of course the many flora and fauna to be encountered along the way.

The Association is always looking for volunteers to help with the trail maintenance that would include, tree / branch cutting and removal, cutting back shrubs / overgrowth along the sides of the trail, mowing and filling the odd pothole with gravel!

We hope you'll come out and enjoy our beautiful trail.
