Description & Services

Information The Club offers monthly, outdoor field trips in communities in Nova Scotia. On field trips, members get out into nature on guided walks, lead by local natural history experts. The focus in on learning about natural history… the species, ecosystem, and natural features of our province.

The Club focuses on developing natural history observations skills, such as using binoculars, identifying species, and taking field notes. Members also learn to make the important connection between observing and understanding this province’s extraordinary natural assets, and what actions they can take to help conserve them.

The YNC is a not-for-profit organization, and a registered charity. It is guided by a board of directors, and managed by a provincial coordinator. Each Chapter is lead by one or more local volunteers leaders. We are always grateful for new volunteers, and donations to support our work!

The South Shore Young Naturalists Club is a relatively new chapter of the Young Naturalists Club of Nova Scotia and is a family chapter, open to families with children of any age who are eager to learn and explore the beautiful natural world around us (*parental supervision is required for our events).

Member families meet monthly at awesome parks, trails, and other natural spaces around the South Shore to explore and learn together. You can join at anytime throughout the year.
Meetings Monthly events, outings, and field trips, open to families with children of all ages.
