Description & Services
Mermaid Imperial Theatre includes the 400-seat auditorium, a 60-seat intimate “second stage” venue called The Mermaid Loft, and a reception room which also functions as a gallery to showcase works by local artists.
In addition to full-scale presentations in the main hall (including preview and homecoming performances of Mermaid’s signature shows), the Loft enjoyed a busy first summer with a variety of workshops, coffeehouse-style concerts, informal readings and Mermaid Youtheatre presentations.
Since 2008, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, along with a variety of local sponsors, has used MIPAC to host an annual Entertainment Series, with a commitment to provide audiences with a variety of popular touring acts, community-based performances, family shows, and our own award-winning productions.
To see the current list of performances visit the website.
Mermaid Imperial Performing Arts Centre is available for rental.
We have reasonable rates for both non-profit and for-profit groups.
MIPAC has hosted successful touring acts, local concerts and theatre performances, as well as movie location filming.
Our theatre’s technical director, Mike Jamieson, also offers complete sound and lighting services for performances which are offered as part of a rental agreement.
Tickets sold for events at MIPAC are offered through (Details on the webpage).
Please note that our theatre’s availability for rentals is limited by several factors:
* It is not air-conditioned so we advise against summertime shows (mid-June to mid-September) where possible.
* We use the theatre to rehearse Mermaid’s flagship productions prior to touring, and first priority is given to those rehearsals.
* We also program an annual Performing Arts Series in the theatre, and we reserve the right to decline events that may conflict or compete with our Series schedule.
Please contact us for all details including information about availability, pricing. ticket sales and locations.
