| Information | Directions: From Hwy 101 take Exit 15 turning north onto Hwy 360. At the four-way intersection turn left onto the 221 Hwy west, then a right onto Long Point Rd. Follow it north turning west onto Brow Mtn. Rd and travel a couple of kms to Nollet Beckwith Rd on the right: N 45° 04.478 & W 064° 49.815. Drive in as far as you can (there is a tree down). Park and hike the rest of the way in. Just past the brook at the “V”, go right. Activities: Hiking, geocaching, local history Trail Surface: Woods road Distance: Approximately 2.62 kms, 1.5 hours What you see: You will be hiking along a beautiful, 383 acre property donated to NS Nature Trust, where William Robinson was said to have murdered his wife, Theresa, in 1904. There are many stories to be told about the events that took place, and William was formally charged with murder on June 17, 1904 and was the last person hanged in Kings County. You will travel through a maple grove, over McCauley’s Brook to the former site of the Robinson’s home. Today the foundations of the house and barn are still visible, resting in the overgrown meadow. The area is said to be haunted as Theresa’s arms and legs were never found! There are five geocaches along this hike! |
