|Information||One of our largest branches, the New Glasgow Library is located downtown on the corner of Archimedes & Dalhousie streets (next door to the Fire Station). Small community gardens are located around the library, with a small outdoor community patio. The New Glasgow Library is a wireless hotspot (WIFI) with access to high-speed Internet.
We offer a full range of free services and access to the resources of all Nova Scotia public libraries.
Books for all ages and interests, reference, large print book, DVDs/videos, magazines, audiobooks, Playaways, downloadable audiobooks, ebooks and emagazines, online databases& instructional programs (such as Ancestry.ca, Rocket Languages, Chilton's Library) and more.
Programming, Reader's advisory, reference, Genealogy & Heritage Room, inter-library loan, public Internet access, printer, scanner, 3Dprinter, family play packs, Nordic walking poles, small display area for Public Art, and instructional tours available upon request.
A 24-hour return bookdrop is available at the Library entrance.
All library programs are offered free of charge, although space is limited – so please call the Library for more information, and to register (902-752-8233). These regular library programs are offered through the fall until the spring (from September – June) while over the summer months, special programming (such as the Summer Reading Clubs for children) is offered. Children’s & Youth programs -
- ABCs for Babies (ages 0 –15 months), on Tuesdays at 10:15am
- Toddletimes (ages 15 months – 3 years), on Wednesdays at 10:15am
- Preschool Storytimes (ages 3-5 years), on Wednesdays at 1:30am and Thursdays at 10:15am
- LEGOs@Library, a ‘drop-in’ as you wish program on Thursdays at 3:00pm
- Young Readers Club (ages 9-12 years), on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 3:00pm
Adult programs -
- Book Clubs, the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm, and the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30pm
- Knitting Circle, a 'drop-in' program held on alternating Saturdays at 2:30pm
Meeting & Community Rooms
The Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library Board will provide non-profit groups with meeting space free of charge in the Library's Community Room, when not in use for library activities. These meetings are to be of a non-fund raising, non-revenue generating nature. The Board reserves the right to accept or reject requests for the use of meeting space. The Community Room also has an adjacent kitchenette with limited services. A Community office is also available for reservations.
